Guyana, Barbados to confer top honour to PM; his global awards’ count to touch 19

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to receive two prestigious international honours, with Guyana and Barbados recognising his leadership and contributions.
While Guyana will bestow its highest national award, The Order of Excellence, on PM Modi, Barbados, on the other hand, will confer its esteemed Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados on the Prime Minister.
This recognition comes shortly after Dominica announced its decision to honour PM Modi with its highest national award, the Dominica Award of Honour. The announcement was made on November 14, acknowledging Modi’s assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic and his dedication to fostering ties between India and Dominica.
With these accolades, the number of international honours conferred on PM Modi now stands at 19.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (November 20) became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Guyana in 56 years. He was greeted by a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour as he arrived at Georgetown.
In an unprecedented move, Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport. The two leaders shared a warm embrace, followed by dignitaries presenting a floral bouquet to PM Modi.
