Description
This is a real nice cobalt blue label under glass Syrup Tolu apothecary medicine bottle from the 1870 era...complete with its original cobalt glass stopper!....SYR:TOLU SYR:VIOLAE
on label under glass in sunken square panel on front of bottle.....Hand blown in paste mold and spun, so there are no mold seams.....early smooth base....flared lip with original cobalt glass stopper with post that extends inside neck of bottle....cobalt blue....7"tall (8"with stopper).....round....Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage of any kind. A nice clean bottle. The glass cover over label is perfect, but the label underneath has some normal roughness...This scarce early medicine bottle would have been used by an apothecary shop or drug store in the mid 1800s. The druggist would have used it to store chemicals for preparing prescriptions. It was a utility bottle that was sold without any glass label so that it could have been labeled with whatever the druggist decided to put inside...
