Description
Antique apothecary/ tobacco glass jar with lidPatented December 7 1915
Good to excellent shape
Has some air bubbles, which are air pockets that became trapped in the manufacturing process, most are on the smaller side of things, but one air bubble that is somewhat bigger as seen in pics. Crude glass almost always contain bubbles, which often adds to it’s appeal and value.
Bubbles are rare in jars or bottles produced after 1920, —which may help date this jar.
Has an amethyst tinge, somewhat on the lighter side, but mostly clear glass. First pic is closer to actual color. Pics show more amethyst than is really there.I don’t know why. Pics were taken outside, no changes to lighting, or juicing of pics.
Height w/lid approx 7 inches
Height w/o lid approx 6 inches
Jar opening approx 4 1/8 inches
Width of bottom of jar approx 5 1/4 inches
Weight of jar approx 1.664 lbs
Weight of lid approx 1.033 lbs
Now for the negatives- the lid on the inside has a chipped piece out of the inner lid, see pics circled for better observation.
Some scuffing on the bottom from sliding around for the last 100 years or so.
Some small chips around inside edge of lid opening, from removal and placement of lid on jar.
