Up for auction is a vintage antique early Cairns & Brothers metal fire helmet or hat. It has the old original black paint and original Cairns Cushion lining in good condition PAT 1575251 (Pictures 8, 9, 11, and 12). It does have dents, wear, and shows age from use. It has the metal tag on the bottom in the inside: Cairns & Bro Makers, New York (Picture 10). It has the brass badge holder on top: US PAT 1.889.537 (Picture 7). It also has the hanging clip on the rear.
