Antique Empoli General Store Glass Candy Jar Apothecary Display 16.5”

We are delighted to offer this rare hand blown flint glass apothecary display jar from Italy. This gorgeous piece shows a sun colored tint and has a ground and polished pontil. It measures approximately 16.5” high x 8” diameter.
This old jar has oxidation at the bottom.
We show this in the photos 9, 10 & 11. We ask that you zoom in on the photos that display the jar upside down for a close view of the oxidation. The jar is otherwise in good antique condition with no observable chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. It could certainly make a great terrarium for your plant compositions, or as an original habitat for your little finned friends.
Empoli is a region where there were many glass companies, not one specific glass company. The great majority of Empoli glass imported into the United States was marked only with relatively generic “Made in Italy” paper or foil labels. Over time, many of the original labels have fallen off and the majority of Empoli glass in today’s market is largely unmarked. The jar that we are offering is from a South Seattle estate. Empoli glass is known for its styles and for the shape of its lids. On our jar is known as the Empoli circus tent lid. Unfortunately, the estate sale was conducted by an organizer of estate sales and none of the family was present. So we don’t know the history of the piece.
