ANTIQUE Pat 1889 US METAL FIREFIGHTER HELMET ( MAKERS CAIRNS & BRO NEW YORK)

Description

This is
ANTIQUE Patented 1889 US  METAL  FIREFIGHTER  HELMET.
Helmet used but in good condition. I
nside the helmet there is a metal circle with markings: " MAKERS CAIRNS & BRO NEW YORK PATENTED JULY 1889 ...." ( see picture). The helmet has partially lost its original red paint, and traces of soot from the fire are also visible on the helmet. This suggests that the helmet did not lie on the shelf, but participated with its owner in extinguishing the fire, doing his job.
