    Description

    CAIRNS, NY VINTAGE ALUMINUM BRASS HIGH EAGLE, w/ Leather SHIELD FIREMAN'S Helmet.
    Brass high eagle is intact with nice original patina.  Also retains it original leather sheild with #4 on it, Cairns makers badge on inside from New York, and has hat hanger.
    Helmet has wear commensurate with age.  Paint is worn and brim has deformation from obvious use.  Helmet is constructed of aluminium  with ribbed gussets to add strength.
    Firefighters name is painted in red on underside as well as initials "CW".  Name appears to read Clyde Ward.  Perhaps more research can be done to determine helmet's origins and background on this firefighter.  Its rare and a great bonus to have the owners name with the piece and would make a great display piece.
