Casper The Friendly Ghost Mattel 1959 Music Jack In The Box (Not Working).
Vintage 1959 Mattel Casper the Friendly Ghost, music box/Jack in the box. These were manufactured for several years in the late 1950s to early 1960s. The box measures 5” square and is about 5.5” tall. It is made of tin and the graphics on this piece are really nice. It features Casper on the front panel, Baby Huey and Little Audrey and Buzzy on the side panels, and Katnip and Herman on the back panel. The top is a bit dirty and could use a good cleaning but the other panels look amazing, with great color and only few a minor spots of paint loss here and there that I would classify as age appropriate wear. Casper himself looks good, although he has a stain on his chest but otherwise also has age appropriate wear. All that being said, the music and pop up functions do not work, although the crank will move and Casper can be released manually by pushing the metal catch on top. The value in this piece is as a display item/collectible.
