This is a retrofit of the exceedingly popular Dayton Audio BR-1 Bookshelf Speaker Kit. The custom, hand-built enclosure is constructed from 3/4" Blatic Birch plywood and 3/4" MDF paneling in the rear. These are completely handmade in Pittsburgh, PA.
Internal wiring uses 14AWG oxygen free stranded copper (audio grade) and the crossover has been hand assembled using high quality audio grade silver solder.
Bass response and mid/high clarity is significantly improved as compared with the stock enclosure provided by Parts-Express. The front-facing, dual ports allow for more versatility in terms of placement in your room and may be tuned using foam plugs if desired. These truly produce a ton of bass but are very well balanced!
They have been powered to-date by an NAD 106 solid-state class A preamplifier and a vintage Technics SU-7300 (~40W) integrated amplifier configured to serve as the power amp (fully restored and recapped). They sound truly excellent!
