The BG-E2N battery grip has the vertical-grip buttons and dials listed below, and therefore has the same level for vertical shot-taking as horizontal:

Vertical-grip main electronic dial
Vertical-grip AE/FE lock button
Vertical-grip AF frame selection button
The Canon BG-E2N Vertical Grip/Battery Holder adds a vertical shutter release, and is compatible with up to two BP-511, 511A, 512, or 514 lithium-ion battery packs (battery pack not included). The BG-E2N provides an additional shutter release, main dial, AE lock/FE lock and AF point selection controls for easier vertical shooting, as well as a 1/4-20 size tripod mount thread.
The BG-E2N replaces and improves upon the original Canon BG-E2 grip by adding water-resistant, and dirt-resistant seals for greater durability
