Description
You are bidding on a WW2 German K98 bayonet with scabbard!Made of bakelite and steel, this 1940 bayonet is in good condition considering its age. .
Bayonet is made by F. HERDERA SN.
According to Carter's book
"
GERMAN KNIFE AND SWORD MAKERS
,"
The Herder family can be traced back to 1623, when Wilhelm Herder were making
knows in Geylenberg.
The blade has the factory "sharpening", which did not really make blade sharp:
that was up to the soldiers.
This soldier to my knowledge has tuch this blade?!
Anyhow finish on the blade is good with usual runner from the scabbard and some marks due to the age,
but otherwise is in good used condition.
The bakelite grip scales are in no bad shape, with no chips, some light wear, scratching and rust.
Scabbard has some
runs on it but still in good shape.
The knife is marked F. HERDERA SN . No.628
Scabbard has No.1905
