These are the later versions that lets you tailor the sound a number of responses, "east coast", "west coast", "British" or neutral sound.
Interesting story behind this speaker; they are modeled after the speaker system Ken Kreisel built for his M&K real time recording studio. When new these retailed for 00.
This speaker still has a devoted following. It has an excellent high frequency response that is better than later speakers I've recently heard, including Dunlavy IIIs. They need a subwoofer since that is what they were designed for.
Uses two SEAS mid-bass drivers and two stacked Vifa tweeters. This driver arrangement results in a controlled vertical dispersion pattern, and the crossover network and tweeter module are arranged for time alignment. These are the later version of the S-1B, allowing midrange and tweeter 6-position slope adjustments each.
All drivers, domes, and centers look like new. No marks or dents on them anywhere. No signs of surround wear.
Cabinets and grilles are in excellent condition, with no dings or scratches. The oak finish really looks good as the photographs show. Grille pegs are also good, snap on and off decisively. Original MK logos are also intact. One of the rear input plates was cracked and has been repaired. It does not affect sound. I’ve photographed it.
The older style push-on connectors will accept wires up to 14ga in thickness.
