offered is a
very rare 1928
art deco marathon "windlite" windproof liftarm pocket petrol cigar lighter. the nickel silver plated lighter features a
double wheel
liftarm mechanism with unusual fancy shape built-up windscreen.
the marathon has an original brown alligator lizard wrap.  i have shown a vintage 1928 ad featuring this exact model. marathon of attleboro was a quality manufacturer of lighters - compacts - cigarette cases - combination case lighters and more. the "
windlite
" is one of the
nicest and most interesting american
windscreen designs of the art deco period and highly collectible. the well made lighter measures about 2" tall x 1-1/2" wide and is in very
good
used sparking condition. the mechanism should work with proper service of fuel but lighter sold as a collectible. the fuel screw has its spare flint holder
but is cracked from old flint
