    International Tuna
    Cup Match
    Nova Scotia
    ~ Rare - Vintage Ashtray - 1951 ~
For your consideration - A great souvenir from the International
Tuna Cup Matches that were held in annually Nova Scotia.
    The Tuna Cup
matches were the brainchild of S. Kip
    Farrington
who started them back in September of 1937.  Farrington's
idea was to invite teams of anglers from all over the world to
participate in a contest to see who could catch the most
    giant bluefin tuna by weight.
This scarce souvenir is from the 1951 Tuna Cup match and
    is one of
    the few
pieces that was given out to participants
    over
the long course of the tournament's history.
This substantial piece of tuna fishing history measures 6 inches
    in
diameter and weighs in at a hefty 1 1/4 pounds.
A great piece of history to put in your
    Big Game Fishing collection.
Return to the days when anglers like Zane Grey.Ernest Hemingway,
Michael Lerner and S. Kip Farrington fished with Hardy Bros.,
Kovalovsky, vom Hofe, Fin-Nor, Stead, Klein and Coxe big game reels.
