Southeastern Lighthouse First Day of Issue Envelopes (5)

Description

This set of 5 first day of issue envelopes features the lighthouses found at Tybee Island, GA, Cape Henry, VA, Hillsboro Inlet, FL, Morris Island, SC, and Cape Lookout, NC.  The series was issued by the USPS in 2003.
The envelopes are unaddressed.  The Tybee Island Lighthouse is one of seven colonial era lighthouse towers.  The Cape Henry Lighthouse marks the southern entrance to Chesapeake Bay.  The Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse is located between Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton, FL to mark the northern limit of the Florida Reef.  The Morris Island Lighthouse stands on the southern side of the Charleston Harbor entrance.  The Cape Lookout Lighthouse is one a few that operates during daylight hours.
