This is a vintage aluminum firefighters helmet made by the Cairnes Co. for the Minneapolis Fire Dept. The helmet is the Senator model and it has fairly new black paint. It has an original hand painted Ladder 5 front piece. Minneapolis used sheet metal front pieces starting in the 1920's when the switched from leather helmets to the aluminum helmets. The helmet has a good shape to it. It has 2 holes on each side from where a plastic visor was installed. The MFD used aluminum helmets until 1967 when OSHA requirements made them obsolete. I would estimate the size from small to medium. The liner has a rip on the back side of the fabric. The overall condition is good and the helmet displays very well.
