For your consideration - A nice 3/0 Julius vom Hofe
B-Ocean
big game fishing reel in excellent original cond.
The B-Ocean
reel, with
its star drag, was the brain-
child
of William
Boschen
who with the help of Julius vom Hofe
made
his
dream
of
being
able to adjust the drag on a
reel
while
fighting a
fish
a
reality.
Julius vom Hofe paid tribute to Boschen
by naming the reel
after its inventor with the homophone B-Ocean.  The historic
B-Ocean reel was the first fishing reel to have a star drag.
This hard to find 3/0 size reel is in excellent condition.
All
of the
mechanical functions
work just as they should;
the
drag is strong, the free-spool
goes on and off with ease
and both rim clickers work as they
should.  Both the
Bakelite side-plates and the German silver fittings
are in excellent condition.  The original offset
foot is
straight and full length.
The reel is serial number B265
The 3/0 size B-Ocean reel is pretty hard to find
and
this
a fine example.  This little 3/0 trolling reel
would be a
wonderful
addition
to your Julius vom
Hofe
or big game fishing tackle collection.
Return to the days when anglers like Zane Grey.Ernest Hemingway,
Michael Lerner and S. Kip Farrington fished with Hardy Bros.,
Kovalovsky, vom Hofe, Fin-Nor, Stead, Klein and Coxe big game reels.
