)Up for your consideration is this
Vintage USA FD Leather Emblem Fiberglass Firefighter Helmet #8.L.3896. Absolutely amazing! My research has found this kind of helmet but my research has not found this leather USA fire department emblem.
It
is black leather with red letters.
The helmet measures approximately 14 1/2“ x 11 1/2“ x 7“. The interior is made of leather and is in really good condition. Unfortunately it has three cracks in it one in the front and one on each side

. I’m trying to figure out what could have caused this kind of damage
but it just don’t make any sense.
And
it seems that the leather emblem was riveted on but on one side and it looks like an old repair the rivets are missing and it its place is a wire.It might have been warned by a lieutenant because on the inside of the helmet it has L. 3896 and his number was eight which is painted in red on the exterior of the helmeted. Everything indicated in photographs. Thanks for taking a look!
