Description
Vintage Fireman's helmet lamp. Created by Walter E Lee Ivyland PA USA, RIP. Makers decal attached at the bottom, see pics. Given as, received as a 50 Year award, ESFC East Seneca NY Volunteer Fire Department award. Styled after an embossed leather helmet, antique style, type helmet. I believe this was formed or cast using an actual helmet for a mold. Very well made, realistic, quite heavy and substantial. Mounted on wood placard type base. Functioning lamp, good cord and plug end, harp & finial included, no shade. All surface clean. No damage or repairs. I purchased the item from the original owners descendant who did remove the personal inscribed tag from the front top of the base. Left behind was the old glue tape which I was able to remove from the wood without harming the finish, just the slightest "ghost" outline can be seen from certain angles, lighting, ever so subtle. The placard measures 18" x 11 1/4" x 1 3/8". Overall height of the lamp including the socket is 21". Hefty piece, weighs 20lbs on My scale. Tested safe and ready to use lighting. Please see all pics. Buyer will pay actual shipping charge. I will refund any shipping over charge. USPS Priority mail preferred, long distance ship may be ground. Due to the overall size and weight the lamp is to be considered oversize for shipping, particularly to points West of the Mississippi River. 1 option to help keep shipping costs down is to disassemble the lamp upright from the base. To access the securing nut at the underside the original decal would have to be disturbed, possibly removed or partially peeled back. I may be able to disassemble the lamp without disturbing the decal but it may be necessary to gain access to the nut for securing during reassembly. I will leave and ship intact unless the buyer specifies otherwise.
