    Description

Up for auction is a complete Whitall Tatum Co. specimen jar with lid and iron clamp.  The jar w/clamp stands approx. 6" high and just the jar without clamp and lid is approx. 4 1/2”.  The jar is 2 1/2” wide at the base and is 3" at the top.  The internal diameter of the mouth of the jar is approx. 2 1/4".  The jar holds approx. 10 ounces.
The base of the jar is pontiled. The lid has PAT. JUNE 11TH 1895 embossed on it and is also marked WHITHALL TATUM & Co. PHILADELPHIA NEW YORK.  The lip of the jar is in very good condition with three small chips (less than 1/8" and a few flea-bite chips. What looks like a crack in the pictures is a manufacturing flaw from the attachment of the lip. The lid is nearly perfect with no chips or cracks.
What looks like a crack in the pictures is a manufacturing flaw.
The clamp does have some "patina" (corrosion) but has no rust as shown in the photos and still operates freely.  The clamp even has some of the original nickel plating.  The jar is in excellent condition and shows little sign of wear (see photos).
I have taken plenty of pictures so please look at them carefully and contact me with any questions or concerns. The jar will be packaged very carefully with the jar, lid and clamp packed separately to assure no damage.
Please look at my other auctions for several other museum jars!
