This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
This particular card was printed in remembrance of:
Adolf Pitzler
Adolf was a Sergeant and Platoon Commander in a Panzer Unit.
He was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and Panzer Assault Badge (see photo).
He passed from severe wounds in a field hospital on November 27, 1942 at the age of 25.
