This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
These particular card was printed in remembrance of:
Alois Grasenberger
Alois was a Sergeant in an Infantry Regiment and was awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Classes, an Annexation Medal and the Gold Wound Badge.
He was a 6 year veteran and fought on many fronts.
Alois fell on April 26, 1945 in Kurland (Courland) at the age of 30.
