This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
This particular card was printed in remembrance of:
Franz Schreiner
Franz was a Private and also served as a Customs Sergeant in the Customs Border Guards and shown by the unique uniform insignia.
He passed in Russia from wounds received to his arms and chest on March 2, 1944 at the age of 25.
