    Description

Thank you for viewing our listings.
This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
This particular card was printed in remembrance of:
    Fritz Kroiss
Fritz served in the Elite Units before the outbreak of World War 2 and is shown in the pre-war issue black tunic with incredibly rare insignia.
The Vertical TK or Deaths Head are considered one of the rarest pieces of cloth insignia and photos of them in wear are fairly scarce - especially the numbered tabs like the example shown in wear.
Fritz was a member of the 12th Company of the Totenkopfeverband as shown by the collar tab on his tunic.
He fell on August 21, 1941 at 8PM in a Hospital at the age of 22.
