This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
This particular card was printed in remembrance of:
Hermann Mahler
Hermann served as a Train Guard in a motorized Police unit and was awarded the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords.
He is shown wearing the Police tunic and Visor.
Hermann fell on August 9, 1944 at the age of 32 and is buried in a cemetery in Radom, Poland
