    This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
    Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
    The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
    Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
    This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
    These particular card was printed in remembrance of:
    Josef Schrittenlochner
    Josef served as a Sergeant in an Artillery Regiment and was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and other awards.
    He was boron on August 26, 1917 and fell on August 13, 1942 from shrapnel wounds and is buried in a cemetery near Bolchow, Russia.
    He is pictured in a fantastic studio portrait and the studios logo can be seen in the lower right.
    josef is pictured wearing his dress tunic complete with what appears to be an Annexation Medal, marksmanship lanyard and NCOs sword.
