This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
This particular card was printed in remembrance of:
Mathias Hennen
Mathias was a Corporal in the Infantry and is shown in a studio portrait with his dress uniform and sword.
He passed on April 10, 1940 at the age of 26.
