This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
These particular card was printed in remembrance of:
Private Franz Fürtner
Franz served in a Panzer Regiment and is shown wearing the later war green Panzer Wrap!
He fell on August 16, 1944 on the West Front at the age of 20.
Josef served as a Corporal in a Medical Company and was awarded the Russian Front Medal.
He fell during a bombing raid on the western front on April 18, 1944 at the age of 20.
