This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
This particular card was printed in remembrance of:
Hans Heindl
Hans was a Sergeant and Pilot in the Luftwaffe as well as a Flight Leader in a Fighter Wing.
He was a veterans of the campaigns in Russia, France and Italy and is shown wearing the Pilots Badge.
He passed after 10 years of service on July 7, 1944 at the age of 31.
