Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
This particular card was printed in remembrance of:
Georg Koch
Georg was a Private in the Infantry and was award a Wound Badge and the Eastern Front medal.
He fell during heavy fighting on the Crimean Peninsula near Sevastopol on May 6, 1944 at the age of 23.
