Description
Listing is for a vintage 1955/56 full bail Garcia Mitchell 300 having serial number 1048470 with its original box. According to the Mitchell 300 Box book by Mike DiMattio, this box is rare and even harder to find with the original reel. This is the fifth version of the 300 and is the first time the model number is engraved on the body. Notice the model number has dashes in between the numbers, (3-0-0). The yellow & black "A Garcia Product" is included but the label is no longer sticking to the reel. The body of the reel seems to be in very good condition - see photos. As shown in the photos, there are marks on the back end of the reel foot which might be corrosion or dried glue from a sticker; I cannot be certain. The handle is the spring version.
The extra spool comes in a plastic screw top canister.
The box has a royal blue cover and yellow bottom tray with blue "Mitchell" lettering and the right-side up spool canister cutout. The side label on the box top indicates the Charles Garcia & Co, Inc. name and address, with the original cost of .75 and model No 300 written in white lettering. The box seems to be in very good condition considering its age. The bottom of the box is stamped "Fair Traded" which pertains to goods imported to the US from France in 1956. Thereby, based on the serial number, the reel was probably made in the Spring of 56 and arrived in the US as early as August, 1956.
Given that this reel is approximately 65 years old, the buyer should be aware the reel needs a cleaning and/or a tune-up and it is not the seller's responsibility to do this. Seller will discount shipping if more than one item is purchased and can be shipped in the same box. This reel is being offered from the Dennis Roberts collection. A certificate of authenticity of previous ownership is available.
Important Note: If you have special requests regarding shipping and handling, make your request known before purchasing as the extra packaging might increase the postage cost which is the buyer's responsibility to cover.
